do speaker wires need to be the same length for each side for delay purposes?

a buddy and me have been pondering for the last couple days whether speaker wires need to be the same length on both sides of a vehicle, for say the door speakers, if you want the delay timings on a HU to equalize properly. is this true or does it not matter? help me out guys and end this debate for us. thanx.

no, length of speaker wire has nothing to do with a speakers absolute phase, or in your case the ability to correct it.

not the length i'm wondering about. just if one speaker has a lead of 5 ft, and the other has a lead of 15 ft, won't the speaker with the 5 ft lead get sound before the speaker with the 15 ft lead? and won't this play with the delay if so?

i completely understand what your asking but like everyone has said, no it wont matter... i mean were talking feet here not miles... the signal is transfered so fast that neither your ear or most audio equipment are able to tell a delay were talking fractions of miliseconds....

Electricity is belived to travel at the speed of light, or extremely close to it. The speed of light is aprox. 670,616,629 MPH. So unless ur wire is at least 50,000miles long (estimate) then it would still take way under a sec for it to go from 1 side to the other.

and just to add usless info... the slighest build up of ear wax after a total ear clensing one day prior is more likely to cause a delay in the sound....
it might muffle the sound, i dont know about delaying it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/graduate.gif.d982460be9f153bb54e5d4cb744f6ae8.gif

Exactly. Flip a switch in your home for a lamp and tell me you can see a humanly measurable difference between your flip of the switch and the light coming on.

unless it is a flourescnt or other lighting that needs a slight warm up before operating that is. LOL
