do i really have to fuse it?

No you don't have to run a fuse if your wiring is done correctly. But if your amp is an old school you need to because they can internally short. But if its a newer one you don't have to. They make big wire for a reason.

I knew someone that did this with some thick *** wire that are used in commercial buildings, was to a 600wrms amp and didnt put in a gasket in the firewall, so guess what, the wire was burned through where the firewall was and shorted his battery and his car died while he was driving, and I came with an extra battery to help him out. So dont do it, unless you are really a dumbass. You dont want your car to die while driving and being stuck somewhere and cant jump it.

I don't see a reason for fusing twice. If the line shorts the fuse is gonna blow. Why have two fuses?
thank you... seems like overkill to me, thats why i agree with tsenfw... and it's a 2007 model, pretty much brand new. i had heard that fusing a powerline twice is like speed bumps in the power flow, thats why i ask...

hmmm... so far 2 yes and 2 no... is the whole speed bump thing true? or will the power flow fine with 2? if it will i'll just do it. is anyone actually running a kicker zx 1000.1 1500.1 or 2500.1 that knows about this?
I've never tested or have seen a test. I'm sure it doesn't matter unless your in serious comp. For a daily driver, I'd fuse it. But that doesn't mean you have to.

To protect the amp. It makes sense. If a short occurs it could pop the amp. Its just a small possibility.
But any modern amp will have fuses right? I don't see how a short anywhere on a wire that is fused near the battery could cause harm to the amp because the circuit would immediately be broken right?

Idk, you tell me, you seem more knowledgeable on the subject.
