I a running a 1700w mono amp and will have a 400w 4 channel amp in my SUV...i have not put in the 4 channel amp yet...but right now everything is juiced up and volts stay at 14.4V...but if i add my 4 channel will all that change??...do i need a new battery or alt?? i have a 105A alt and a 820CC battery...will it all be the same when i install the 4 channel or do i need to upgrade anything??...i heard that if you run 1000w rms or more you need to upgrade to bigger alt or battery or both..is this true??...my mono amp is putting out 500w rms @ 4 ohm...and my 4 channel puts out like 25x4rms @ 4 ohm..or 100w rms....so thats like 600w rms total power..so am i okay or not..not sure if math is right..thanks.

600w RMS on a 105a alty and an 820cca-rated battery should present no problems for you. The very first upgrade to a vehicle (if the upgrade is for expected car audio current usage) should always be going bigger cable-wise on the Big 3. See the stickied tutorial in the wiring subforum if you haven't already for more details there.

What you're running should be fine with stock electrical for the now but doing the Big 3 can never hurt and prepares you for bigger and better things audio-wise in the future. For a sub-$30 investment you really cannot go wrong there.

I think he is already running 1700watts though.
If you actually read his original post I would suggest that the 1700w is a peak output figure which is, as most of us know, an immaterial specification. Further into his post he mentions his mono amp being 500w RMS @ 4 Ohm and the multichannel being 100w (overall) RMS for a total of 600w RMS.

yes Prowler is right...my lights DO NOT dim at all...my volts stay at 14.4v...everything is cool..problem is my subs are high power..300w rms and 600w peak..they are 3 JL 12w6v1's...about 200w rms to each about...i have 4 guage wiring...and should i run 8 guage to amps from block??...will this save some power and not drain battery or alt??
