Do I need more power, or better subs?

My box was made by the person who sold me the subs. He told me that he just screwed it together, and did not glue it tight. Also, he said the cu ft was a little on the low side, which would give me a bit more boom.

Looks like I might just need a new one.

I have a pretty nice enclosure, but I do not know the specs.
I really just do not like how 'loose' the bass sounds. For example during fast double bass, they cannot keep up.

I was looking at getting a couple of PPI flat cones, or maybe some ID's

you have a ported box or sealed???

sealed does way better with double bass and faster hits

Pretty sure that he has a leaky sealed box.

correct.

I don't really hear any air leaking, and I have checked all of the seams.

I am going to just sell it all, and get 2 new 12" subs and a new amp.
