I apoligize in advance. I know I'm probably asking a question that has been asked before. I'm adding a new deck that has a 6.5 in monitor, two headrest monitors, 2-12's, and a 2 channel amp rated at 350 rms at 4 ohms per channel, to my factory bose system. Do I need to upgrade the batt., add another batt., and or upgrade my alt.? I'm new to car audio but I do work with electronics, so I know that if something requires more power than something needs to give it, I just don't know how much is too much for the factory components( batt. alt.) Your help would greatly be apprieciated. Also, if an explaination could be given for the sake of knowledge.

Its depends on output of factory alt. I ran about 1200 watts total on stock battery and electrical. Now I have about 1900 and have optima up front and small battery in back off factory alt.

A lot depends on the car. Trucks and SUVs typically have more extra alt capacity than cars. The level that you listen to your music and the type of music makes a difference as well. It's impossible to say how much available amp power you can run off a stock electrical because there are just too many variables and the answer is different for every person and system.

you will know when you need an alt or batteries, if you turn up your subs your amps will shut off for 3 seconds and then turn back on, i had this problem on my crx running 2 DASPL15's with an orion 2500D with stock alt no big 3 and stock batt, trust me you will know when u need an upgrade.

are you doing the install or a shop??? adding to factory bose systems can be problematic. Sometimes it's better to just replace the bose system all together.

Bose systems are exactly that, systems. All components work specifically with each other and don't operate as just a deck, amp, and speakers. Weird impedances, EQ-ing, amplification can all come in to play.

Good luck.

Just a general rule upgrade electrical before amps start shutting off

i would say with what you have the only advantage a battery would give you is key off listening/watching. if you arent doing that i highly doubt you need anything unless you moved up power wise.
