Im getting a 4000 watt amp (vibe286) and i dont know if i need a second alternator or a bigger one.

you definately need a ho alternator. do the math. at full power your amp will draw 400 amps or so. but on average probably about 100 amps depending on the kind of music you listen to. your alternator will need to supply at least 100+ amps just for the audio system in addition to enough amps to run the cars electrical loads. a battery will help if you run your audio with the engine off, the alternator supplies power when the engine is running, otherwise it will be an additional load on your alternator. the cap(s) may help provided your alternator can provide enough current in the first place, as they will level the load on the alternator. and provided they have a low esr (equivalent series resistance), and esl (equivalent series inductance) otherwise they're worthless.

Do i really need one because the owner manual says its

300w x 2 RMS

and it has 2 35 fuses so i dont even think it can do 4000 watts and a lot of people say that too.

well that's a different story. where did you get the 4000 watt figure from. so at full power it will pull 70 amps. with an average current draw of say 14 amps figuring music with a 20% duty cycle. you will probably be fine with your stock alternator.
