Do I need a second batt

Ok, my oem alt is taking a dive, I have a ho alt to replace it with. My question is; Do I have to add a second battery when I install my ho alt? If I don't install second battery, will the ho alt damage anything in my electricals? Thanx in advance.

The alternator SHOULD only put out a steady amount of power, and the extra power when needed. If the HO alt puts out its full power for no reason, then yes... you would damage some sht00f. lol

you don't need another battery unless the one you have now is dying

You don't have to add a second battery if its not needed. But chances are if you are needing to add a HO alternator than you probably need an extra battery. The alternator wont damage anything without adding additional batteries. Alternators regulate there amperage output. It will only put out high amperage if needed

Not much man. If you have the stock battery you might wanna get a agm but that depends in your batts age to Do fix it if it ain't broke

I'm no sure how anyone could accurately answer your questions without knowing what amps or how much power you're running.

Factory installed boston acoustic 450 watt amp, runs mids/highs, sundown saz1500v3 @ 1ohm on a dc lvl 4 12 m2, 1.5 cuft @ 32hrtz.

My usual order of electrical upgrades is:

-Big3

-Make sure you have sufficient size wire and solid ground to amp

-Deep cycle battery to replace stock battery

-Add 2nd same type deep cycle battery in rear
