I have been having a problem within this past week. I turn the key and its like the car is trying to start, it will click sometimes, but then it keeps trying to turn over. If i try it a few times eventually the car starts. I dont think its the battery because it always works after a couple minutes. I will go up to advanced auto tomorrow and have them check the battery and while i am their i can look at starter prices. What is wrong? Are starters expensive if that sounds to be the problem? Thanks for the help before i go to advanced.

if its a starter it should not be to much like anything eles if u cant do it its gona cost u around 200 or so or even more.
what i believe is the starter is very accessible. Is it more difficult than removing a wire or two, remove faulty starter, replace, and then attach the wire?

I'm assuming the solenoid is built in, being that it's a Toyota. That said, you'll have a power directly from the battery, ground to the block, and a small trigger wire coming from a wiring harness. Remove them, change the starter, hook them back up the same way. And IMO, it does indeed sound like the starter. Usually the solenoid itself goes out, which is essentially a very heavy duty relay. If you can swap just that, and save some cash, do it. If it's not the solenoid, then it's more than likely the brushes, which will require a new starter. Get a reman if you can. They usually have a lifetime warranty, and they're a LOT cheaper than a new one.

its not to crazy just some might be harder to get to. just have them see whats up and if thats the issue get a oem starter and if u cant put it in. U can allways bring it to a shop and they will just charge u to put it in. 80 bucks or so
