Do I need a new head unit

Not really for me but for my brothers subaru legacy Right now his deck only has 2 sets of RCA pre outs. Right now he is running an audioque 750.1 mono block but wants to add a 4 channel which requires 2 sets of rcas I believe? he is looking at the crescendo 1100.1 here are the specs on it

Now would he need to get a new deck with 3 sets of RCA pre outs? I see that the crescendo 1100.1 has an "RCA output" does that mean I can run a set of RCAs from the crescendo to the audioque 750.1? and will the RCAs ran from the crescendo to the audioque have any cross over on them?

No amp to amp rcas are just for linking mono-blocks.

He has 3 choices

Get a new HU with 3 outputs

Get a pair of y-cables(all speakers will be crossed over at same fq is you run this route, but my setup all doors are crossed same place anywho)

Get a crossover/line driver with 3 preouts, that would also boost his preout voltage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

All 3 options would work fine, the new HU or eq/line driver will give you more control over the sound though. An eq/line driver would be a $40-80 fix and a good option.

But the crescendo 1100.1 isnt a mono block? Enless people are straping rull range 4 channels now?

Also couldnt I run 1 set of Y cables from the left output on one set of pre outs and then run another set of Y cables to the right output on the same set and that would give me 2 lefts and 2 rights and still hve one set of pre outs freed up?

true, you can prob strap 4chs too.... but thats its purpose

I still think the cadence 7-band looks good personally, but the clarion is a good one for sure(they look almost identical). Both are on sonic i believe
