do i need a new alt.?

Thinking about getting a new alternator because with out my capacitor hooked up, and only one audiobahn A8000T and one sony p.o.s. like 1000watt max amp my alternator squeels really loud and my voltage drops to like 12 volts sometimes so i cant listen to my system at its full capacity. I had some wires and a new amp shipped so i will have two A8000Ts, my cap. hooked up, and two matching woofers.

Do you think i will need to get a new alt. with my 3.0 farad power acustik cap. hooked up?If so, about how big would i need? I can search for prices. Also considering an optima batter.

What kind of car is it, and how old????? And forget the cap ur better off buying an optima yellow top.........but get back to me as far as my first question.

Before getting an alt, upgrade your battery and make sure your wiring is up to par (good grounds, appropriate size power/ground wires). I recommend the Exide 34XCD over the Yellow Top, cheaper, more power, and I know a lot of people with them and not one has had a problem.
