do i need a Ho alt

I am currently runnig a alpine v12 1000w amp and i wanted to upgrade

to a 2000w kicker or mmats amp.

my current alternator is 90 amps . to run 2000 watts would i need a ho alt and if so what amperage, and what else might i need .

(currently with the 1000 w alpine amp when i crank it up the system shuts down because my voltage drops) what can i do to fix that until i get a ho alt.

and what battery would be good? yellow top?

it wouldnt hurt to get one. probably a good idea

ive run that much and a little more on the same size alt

i had several large batts to back it up though.

so i would be ok to run 2000 watts on a 90 amp alt for about a month or 2 with some battery s until i get some cash for a ho alt.?

An isolator and a couple of batteries near the amp(s) should help you out until you can afford a HO alternator. Of course, when you price the isolator for a HO alternator and a couple of batteries, it may make the HO alternator look more affordable!

ETA: As for the size alternator you need.... I say the biggest you can afford and at a minimum, at least DOUBLE what you are running now: 180 amps!
