The Birds The Word!!!!!!!
Hey guys total noob here and i cant qite find the answer in the search. ok so i have 1 2008 15" Kicker L7 4ohm in a Ported box and i running a 2008 Orion D2400 HCCA. Now although i have a decent size 130 amp alternator in my 2002 Escalade , i know i need something to stiffen. Now what the hell is the difference between a Capacitor, CapCell and a PowerCell battery? what would benefit my application, And what kind/ brand should i be looking at, im looking to spend up to a 100. Oh and i plan on eventually running 2 Kicker L7s on the Orion D5000, thought id throw that into the mix:)

Please help.

cap have lower esr meaning they discharge/charge fast..

marine batterys have thicker denser plates for lower current longer discharge...

car audio batterys like kinetik have alot oftightly packed plates for a faster discharge/recharge rate while being to discharge higher current faster but not as lone..

standart batteries are similar to car audio, but alot less plates and a bit thicker... old lead acid batts are pretty weak...

xstatic makes a battery out of high output caps but configured to have a battery like discharge.... i use the kinetik batts and have a stock alt with 2 1800 class d amps and a 300 watt class ab I don't get any dim on my lights..

i would recommend you get your alternater rewound or get at least 1 HC 1800 under the hood and a 2400 close to the amp.. also you need to up grade thw grounds on the alternator as well as the wire going from the positive on the alternator to the positive on the batteries. also the wire grounding the engine/******.. with 5000watts rms thats close to 450 amps

well first of all, a capacitor wont have any benefit to you, and your willing to spend 100 dollars? you may wanna boost that number up to 250-350, considering you wont get anything for 100 bucks that you will benefit from

Go to chevy/gmc dealer and get the second battery tray that is used in a diesel sierra truck the same year as your escalade. Then get yourself some nice 1/0 and wire the second battery under the hood near the firewall on the passenger side. I use odyssey pc1500dt in factory location and an odyssey pc1750 in the second factory location on my denali. I have more power than what you have listed and I have no dimming. I do have a 300 amp alternator but my stock one is back on now because my 300 might be having some problems.
