RCA Voltage

Hi,

Basically I have a JVC Head Unit with 5v RCA preouts. I have a factory intstalled Amp that currently gets 2v from the factory Head Unit. I want to replace the Factory head unit with the JVC but I have to keep the existing amp.

My question is: Does the voltage of the preouts change with the volume the Head Unit is set to? Eg If I keep the volume low on the head unit, would the RCA voltage be less then the specs of 5v?

Any help would be great.

Cheers

I've heard from people saying the spec that says 5v pre-outs is only when you have the volume all the way up...

I dont see how this could be though.. PErsonaly I think if its rated for 5v pre-outs you will still have the 5 volt pre-out voltage even with the volume down.. Easy way to find out though is just stick a DMM to your RCA's and measure the voltage.

Yeah the multimetre was the first thing I tried, but it did seem so show the results I was expecting. I think I read something that to measure the voltage of RCA audio out you need a special tool.... mmmmm
