Distortion from front speakers

Hey hey,

Quick question to anyone that might have a few ideas! I'm running an Alpine CDA 7893R through a pair of 53.7i Kappa Infinity speakers at the front and a pair of 693.7i Kappa Inifinitys at the rear (via a Alpine T707 amp). The back speakers sound loverly but the fronts are distorting very early on (about 1/3 capacity). With the head unit you have the choice of turning off the pre amp of the unit to improve the sound quality through the amp-but if I do this I can't power the fronts. Any ideas why I'm getting the distortion that I am on the front speakers and any thoughts on how I could improve the sound quality of the rears without losing sound to the front. Thanks,

Jay

Well the first flaw in your system i see if your powering the rears and not the fronts which would be more appropriate....... Think of it like a concert stage. . . . where does all the sound come from? The front, same difference in your system. As far as the distortion goes. . . that can be due to faulty speakers or a pinched wire possibily aswell. Just a thought you should consider!

Well, it's a installation in a VW camper so the boosted rear speakers are to replace the sound you can't get at that level at the front. Plus will spend a fair amount of time at the back of the van. Also meant to say that when I fade to the rear speakers the distortion problem is greater than when I fade to the front ones. Might check speakers with diff amp.
