dirt bike guys

so i wasnt giving it enough juice ok! i didnt know dirt bikes were soooooooooo fast! it came up off the ground when i hit it hard once, i didnt know id be able to ride an bike, better yet be able to go top speed on it with only a couple hrs of riding. like i said yesterday was my first time EVER on an bike! so i surprised my self!

Yes they do require a lot of maintnence. And the worst thing you can do is buy a broken bike and expect to be able to fix it yourself with no experience. I did this three times and failed three times.
It was on my part DUMB DUMB DUMB ****ING DUMB. Period. You will end up with a worthless pile of parts EVERY time.
It depends on alot of factors I have gone around buying beat up bikes them and selling or keeping them for a few years now and I almost never have a bike that I can't get running with a few hours of work. i do have one bike down right now waiting for a piston and ring but it wont be a big deal to get it running.

that seems like a bigger money pit then audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
well its the mods that get you:

and for maintincence i forgot in my other post:

lube cables every 3 months

grease and clean all bearings every 6

replace suspension oil and replace any worn bushing/seals every 50 hours

tires last about 25 hours for rear, 40 for front

oil is 12 a change for me (offbrand oil filter and cheap oil)

i have 5 air filters at 20 bucks a pop (rotate them so i can clean them all at once)

then theres chain/sprockers last about 50 hours a set and cost about 130 for the combo

repack muffler every 50 hours

most bikes need a new crankshaft/rod/bearings at around 200-300 hours, more or less depending on bike... costs about 200 if you do it yourself, 600 if a shop does it

well if it hasnt been ridden much and still runs strong id say around 140 seeing how its a 300 and a 2 stroke i had a kx 250 and i beat my friends chevy cobalt ss in a race lol
Holy shit are you ****ing stupid? A dirt bike will not go 140 mph. There is no way a stock dirtbike will go that fast. n00b stfu.

not to mention its easy to beat most cars up until the top speed of the bike on decent dirt bikes. (if rider knows what hes doing)

All I have seen in this thread is a bunch of inexperienced n00bs who have ridden a bike a couple times and think they kno all there is to dirtbikes. There are a couple of you here that know your shit but douche bags like rabbitzombie havent a ****ing clue and are talkin out their ***. Depending on what is wrong with the KTM would determine whether or not to buy it. It could be the coil, or it could be the stator which will run you around $200 to replace.

I started out on a CR250 and did fine. In fact, within 6 months I was racing in C class and podiuming almost every race. I moved up to B then rode pro at a couple local tracks. I have sinced moved onto freestyle as I enjoy it more. You can learn to ride on that bike, it will just take extra caution to do so.

this is making me think twice about getting one...i was originally planning on buying a raptor 700 but i really dont want to spend 7000 bux on a quad...

do any of you have experience with the raptor 350? i dont need a super fast atv, but id like it to be decently fast and good on trails and half *** in mud and stuff like that...

i was just thinking about the dirt bike b/c it was cheap, but im used to riding atvs...
