dirt bike guys

kTM's are nasty fast, but they are quite pricey to fix also. id look into a newer four stoke CRF 250 YZF 250. a lot easier to ride then a two stroke. use a lot less clutch. not to mention maintenance is a lot lower too.

Bikes are a bad idea.
I have a 94 Yamaha xt225 Serow and it is very fast, but it only ran right for about three hours the entire time i owned it. The first two bikes I had, Hondas, never ran at all.
They require ALOT of maintenance especially 2 strokes, I greatly perfer 4 strokes I enjoy the power delivery more along with many other factors which make4 strokes my choice.

As for as the ignition problems it could be the CDI controller or the generator stator I would test the output of the stator before buying the bike.

Yes they do require a lot of maintnence. And the worst thing you can do is buy a broken bike and expect to be able to fix it yourself with no experience. I did this three times and failed three times.

It was on my part DUMB DUMB DUMB ****ING DUMB. Period. You will end up with a worthless pile of parts EVERY time.

How do you figure that? and are you referring to newer or older ones?
250fs require 5 hour oil changes, pistons every 30-60 hours, and new valves, springs, cut seats, etc at around 100-150 hours.

2strokes require 5-10 hour ****** oil changes, 125s need a piston at about 30 hours and 250s need them at about 60

im talking about 250f (faster than 125 2 stroke) and 450f (faster than 250 2 stroke) race bikes, 4 stroke trail bikes need next to no maintinence

oh and the airfilters on both should be cleaned every ride

believe it or not yesterday was my first time riding an BIKE PERIOD! it was an KAW 200 cc. i know it may sound like im lieing but i didnt even fall once! i rode on the dirt for about 2 hrs then went on to pavement. i think for an first time rider i did **** good yesterday, i managed to get top speed on that bike, so i would say it shouldnt be hard to learn how to drive em. only thing i keep messing up on yesterday, was taking off, and turning the bike around, i say couple more months for me and id be good to go. when i try to turn the bike around it always cut off on me, because i dont know how to take off that good. any tips for taking off good? when i get ready to turn i pressed the clutch all the way in break down my gears to 1st, and then id get ready to turn so id ease off the clutch and hit the throttle and id cut off WTH was i doing wrong?

learn to equalize the throttle and clutch.

that was your problem. not enough throttle
