diregarding the cost, 12w7...

I personally would not go with the rockford amp because there are much better cleaner sounding amps out there for the same or less money.
bwuhahahaha :veryhappy

you will hear NO audible difference between DECENT sub amps! and the RF is more than decent!

sure its a little more expensive, but implying that it will 'sound cleaner' is the stupidest thing ive heard all day.

ok, so thanks to all of you for the advice, I know Im going with a 12W7 and the RF 1001bd...can anyone tell me how the w7 compares to the diamond trx, pheonix gold Ti12D, Oz Audio Matrix Elites, and Focals...my friends have these and I want to know that Im getting the best possible since these are all in similar price ranges (expensive). Also, does anyone think its a bad idea to go with the JL ProWedge designed for the 12W7 (sealed) versus buying a dif. one? Lastly, this will prob sound like a dumb question but considering all of the equip is so expensive and high quality, is there any sugg. wiring kits I should get (i.e. monster)? Thanks

And where is this higher bass response of which you speak? What frequencies?
If you like "tweaking and tweaking" so much then take out your 31 band EQ and make the response flat.

All things considered I prefer a Magnum either way. Punchier, articulate, Butterworth in one cubic foot, 0.50Qtc in 1.5cubic feet, among other reasons.

Shutup already. You're making me way too tempted to buy a D2 just so I can test it out. And I don't have the funds to be doing that sort of thing. BAAAAHHH!!!!

The RF amp should be a good match if you're not looking for crazy SPL, as it will give 750W at 3ohm, which I think is the RMS of the sub (I own one, you'd think I'd know for sure...) JL's enclosures are easily the best pre-fab's you can buy, and it should sound awesome in that box.

Go to Wal-Mart for the wiring kit, as it's just as high quality as Monster (OFC wire is OFC wire, whether you pay $5 or $5000).

i would say over 70 hz cant tweak what it wont do -mud- you can compensate with better fronts but why waste the "ultimate" sub ? tell you the truth i had an easier time tuning 8 12" memphis hps in ported (38hz) boxes for sq than i did with the breeze with the 12w7's and the hps where in an sq-sq+ comp car. the breeze had (been 8 months or so) i believe mtx 6000 series components in the kicks (5.25") spent 3 hours and all we had was what was on the amp (mtx too cant remember if it was class d series or the big a/b amp. frankly for less money and a lil more space imho he coulda had better sound.. now it went low and rumbled (he was happy) but take it off 50 cent "the club" and play some metalica in it (which this guy does) it was muddy.and yes a sub x over at 50-60 hz at 12-18 db will still produce more volume at 70-90 hz than most component sets.

all right, I'll ask a better question...how does the 12w7 compare to the oz matrix elites. Im going to go with the JL but I was offered by an Oz audio dealer, the only one in the state, a 12 for around 400 or so and he claimed that they could compete/out perform the JL's. I dont have enough knowledge to know the difference. Does anyone else?

im an oz dealer too =P they are better all around but lack the low low end umph of the w7. neither is bad really

okay thanks...I should hope that neither are BAD considering theyre both $ even the the w7 costs twice as much. After hearing everyone's opinion, I haven't heard about one sub that is better than the w7in terms of sq while still eing able to get loud.

well a couple of things - I was advised to make sure I purchase the amp from an authorized dealer because the warranty is important. Two, I understand that is it great, but I really only need 750 watts pumped through it from thr RF(the recommended RMS) and I have learned that other than the name brand, for the types of music I listen to, I do not need the same quality as the JL. Thanks though

if you dont need the clean sound why are you spending so much money on a w7?
he's talking about the amp...but amps don't produce a 'clean sound'...thats a stupid idea. a properly installed amp with a decent price tag will sound the same as an expensive amp...NO AUDIBLE DIFFERENCE!!!
