diregarding the cost, 12w7...

no, Im going to agree with Nate here. If you've read the entire above discussion, you'd see that I want SQ but I have learned that between a $600 and $1000 amp, there is little difference, especially for the music Im listening to.

As far as your question about the Diamond TDX's you will have to hear them for yourself. I bought them over the W7. Just REALLY clean SQ, and lots of bump when you want it. AMAZING subs. I wouldnt trade my 2 TDX's for a truck load of W7s. I'm not saying that I dont like the W7 I am EXTREMELY picky about my SQ, and the Diamond handle it like they were used to mix every cd in my collection. Think about it, Dont jump on the "bandwagon" until you've exhausted your research. You may end up with a sub that takes up lots of room, or like with the TDX a nice .87 sealed box and 600-1000 watts will nail it right on the head. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I appreciate the advice...the only thing is that a friend can get me a good deal on the W7's and unless you said that the diamonds were that incredible, there's no sense for me to pay more - i KNOW i couldn't appreciate it like others on this board.

Differenct question: I was talking to one of my friends today who seems to know a little bit about subs but not enough that I would trust him. He was telling me that 70 percent of people who get subs also play music through them. Some people I know do that, but with the W7's, considering I have enough speakers in my car, these are able/made to just play bass right? (it might sound like a dumb ques to people who know more about subs, but Im a little confused after having heard this)

Thanks

that's probably the stupidest thing i've heard all day. go kick your friend in the nuts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

dont play anything other than bass on your subs...

-nate

hahahaha, okay - I was going to do so when he first told me this, but I don't have enough knowledge on this to pretend to be an expert. He was telling me that SQ is only important when playing music through it at which point I figured he had to be wrong, but he is quite good at seemign confident. Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif

just run a low pass filter to the subs...the amplifier should ahve one on board... set it to LPF, lowpass, wahtever usually around 80hz depending on the sub, the enclosure, and your preferences... play with it, find something that sounds good

what is a low pass filter (does that only allow bass to go to the sub instead of all audible music?) ill be using the RF 1001bd.

low pass filter does exactly what is sounds like... let's the lows pass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

everything below its setting passes...

all right cool...this might also sound like a stupid ques, but for anyone who has read the rest of the thread, I'm asking this after my friend mentioned it to me (the one I need to smack). He said for a 1000 watt amp (ill be getting 750 because of ohm), ill need a capacitator to save the battery. Yes/no ?

DONT waste ur money on a Cap...buy a BIGGER output alternator!!!...depending on ur vehical thats this potintial system is going in id say ur alternator output is about 80-100...buy something around 170-200...thats will solve the problem...

o yea and get a new batt for under the hood as well...get a Red or Yellow top Optama...the red will get u more Cranking amps (i think mine is around 980amps)...but they dont recharge when u kill them... on the other hand the Yellow top will give u a deeper cycle and will retore its self better... in othe word saving u the time to replace the reds...ive gone through 3 in a lil over a year...

good luck

just grab a higher output alternator if you have problems...

you might not, and if you don't, then there's no reason to spend the money to get a new one. Just get the equipment, but save some room in your budget fora larger alternator. you won't necessarily have to go quite that large, for most applications, 160 is going to be plenty. just install it without upgrading, and if you have issues, then fix them.

I have a friend who "years ago" had a set of "roadkill" 8's. he was running them full range off the deck.....(he has no clue when it comes to this stuff no matter how many times I tell him) anyway, he had this favorite song that sounded"amazing" on that one set up, and he has heard my system and believe me it sounds OUTSTANDING, but that one song still doesnt sound "good"to him. if your friend really thinks SQ subs are run full range he needs a shrink, and a kick in the nuts. As far as the Diamond TDX's are concerned you can pick them up from Woofers etc. for $309 each for 10's. If you can get the W7 for cheaper go for it otherwise I'd say try the Diamonds. I've had JL's, Fosgates, Kickers, Orions, MTX, all kinds of stuff, I'm completely sold on the Diamonds, The SQ on them is Amazing, I listen to all kinds of stuff, from Jazz-Hard core Metal-Hip Hop-female vocalists-techno. Try 'em out you wont be dissappointed. I PROMISE!!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif good luck
