diregarding the cost, 12w7...

then yea ull be happy with it. The problem with getting a good match for a W7 is getting the ohm load to match. U said u dont mind spending the money so u should just go with the JL 1000/1. Its perfectly matched for it.

it's true, i did say i didnt mind spending the money, but I wasn't clear...I know the 1000/1 is a perceft match for it, but its around 500 bucks more than the RF and even though there are good and bad things to be said about it, it's still a great amp...if you're saying that a 1000 watt amp would be fine then the RF should also be fine...i was worried more about the watts than the company. Thanks

SQ is completely subjective. The w7 should handle the 1000 watts without a hitch. I personally would not go with the rockford amp because there are much better cleaner sounding amps out there for the same or less money. I would look into avionixx or hifonics (i run avionixx so i'm biased but, i've also ran rockford and will never have any of their products in my car again)

good luck brother,

i'd say you should do some more research though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The only thing is that I figured for a mono amp, it isn't as important to have PURE CLEAN sound since I'm listening to techno and not jazz. However, what would you recommend as an amp that could be used for a 12w7 for 600 bucks or so. (remember, for anyone else responding, that I am looking for a 1000 watt amp cleaner than that Rockford, so Im not interested in $250 amps)

I'd take the W7 in a heartbeat.

Hmmm ... as for amps ... I do like my Arc's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif JL 1000/1 is fine.

iv messed with 12w7's all the way up to 3 cft for 1 after you get over 2.4 cft they get smoother but still lacked higher bass response ..
And where is this higher bass response of which you speak? What frequencies?

If you like "tweaking and tweaking" so much then take out your 31 band EQ and make the response flat.

All things considered I prefer a Magnum either way. Punchier, articulate, Butterworth in one cubic foot, 0.50Qtc in 1.5cubic feet, among other reasons.

Im not familiar with arcs...what do they run and are they cleaner than the rockford 1000bd's...I really dont want to blow 1100 on an amp from JL when i dont need the clean sound,

Different question...how man db could one usually get out of a sealed box with a 12w7...ill be putting it in JL's box. I know it's more sq than SPL, but...

You won't notice a difference in how "clean" an amplifier sounds. Arc's, generally speaking, have a little nicer features as far as accuracy is concerned, but this relies on which model you are looking at. Keep in mind they are expensive. The RF will suit your needs fine.

okay cool. Id imagine that the accuracy you're talking about is more nec. for music like classical and jazz. Also, I don't know that much about subs, but having the sealed box will at least make it tighter/more accurate than the ported ones, right?

you'll definetly notice if the power isn't clean :p

i am pretty sure that if you listen to a pyramid amp that puts out a true 500 watts and then listen to a quality amp that puts out the same 500 watts you'll notice a big difference in the quality amp.

so would you consider the Rockford 1001bd amp a good one and not a "pyramid"?...also, if someone could give me a quick lesson. Someone once explained how the 1,2,3,4,8 omh thing works but I forget. (i.e. if the rf is 500@4 and 1000@2, is it 750@3)

in regard to purchasing a 12w7 i dont feel ull be disapointed at all...they r NICE subs...IMO...i kno this has already been mentioned but ill re-enphasize it...puting 1000 amp one this sub WILL NOT hurt it in any way...i would consider my self a VERY aggresive user and ive never encountered a problem with my subs and ive had mine well over a year...ive had minor warrenty problems with my JL amps but nothing major at all...

one piece of advice...DEFENTLY BUY ur sub through a JL authorized dealer...(and if u end up gettin a JL 1000/1 get it through JL aswell) u wont regret paying that extra bit of $$$ the warrenty's r very important!

{Subs= 1 yr}

{Amps= 2 yrs}

Lastly....my favorite thing about my w7s is not necessarily how loud it gets (spl wise) but how LOW-n-LOUD they get...i love LOW bass

P.S.- Pyramid is with out a doubt the WACKEST company on the planet! LoL

well good luck bud
