why is it all the forums i frequently visit, 95 percent of the people who run dd

t-1500s or reg 1500s have problems. they all say the dds have mechanical noises, majority of them have new subwoofers not old and abused gear.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

is there a design flaw in the recent ones?

I dunno I have never run into this issue with any of their woofers
Considering we are talking about 1500 series and you run 9500 im going ot have to ask if you have ever run the newer 1500's like he is talking about.

I've done several builds with the 9500's and they all sound fine and get plenty loud.
Have you talked with anyone at DD about this?

We arnt talkin about 9500's

lol....i like you !
Well it seemed pretty obvious lol. I like you too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

By 95% do you mean the 2 people that had a problem?

The 2 that made 30 threads about it on about 5 different forums?

Then one of them found that it was all box design, built a proper box and now he is stunned by the performance? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

pretty much.

There are three ppl I know who had the problem. I was one of them. Wilson was another. Wilson had some 1508's makeing the same noise mine was making. I contacted DD who said my box was to large, tune was to low, and port was to small. I blame the enclosure that was built for a W7. Wilson picked up my 1508 off of me after I heard his making the same noise. We believe maybe his box was to small and he didn't have enough port area. He built a box per DD spec this weekend and tested my sub in it. No noise. He said in the right box this single 1508 was keeping up with the 3 he had in his truck. I would not be afraid of picking up the DD subs. Just make sure you build the box to their specs and you should be fine. This is the 2nd setup we have seen that is fixed with a different enclosure. Maybe Wilson will pop in later and give his input.

I free aired both of my buddies 1510t's because we were having problems with them in the enclosure. Took them out and they both ohm correctly. The subs sounded just as loud free air as they did in the box.

I began to look closely at the subs and noticed one had something rolling around in the cone it sounded like. I'm guessing something came up through the pole or during assembly.

Then on the next sub I was SHOCKED. There is a very fine crack in the backet near the motor, and it goes all the way around. Looking closer you can see that where the basket was screwed down it was cracking. It looks as if they overtorqued the screws or something and sent a crack in most of the basket.

My buddy os suppose to be calling DD over this today.

hmm. let me know the results
