Different Type R's?

Ok are their two kinds of type R's because my buddy told me he'd sell me his two type R's but their the "older version"? Can someone plz explain this to me. Thanx

Dont get the old ones. The new ones sound alot better and can take more power than the 500rms rating.

old type. Makes people not want to sit in my car too much. They say its too loud.

I really wonder about people sometimes.. I feel I'm going deaf with my 12's in a sealed enclosure with "only" 275 watts per speaker.. yet people are running subs ported, with 9 billion watts. I guess I can't be going too deaf, relatively..

as for the new ones, I've listened to them at a shop. I didn't notice much of a difference.

if they are your buddies, why don't you look at them and then look at the new ones... and i wouldn't say don't get the old ones, the 2005s are better, but not worlds apart. listen to your buddies system and see if you like it, it's that easy

I have a set of the 2004's nub! Otherwise I wouldnt be suggesting on what woofers are better. Any sub I have recommended i have had or someone else has. Duh, get a clue slick.

I do agree the 2004's can sound good and get loud. But mine are night and day. When I fist started on this site and read all the posts about the 2005 r's I was like wow did alpine make a superwoofer out of the r. So I did what I usually dont do and joined a bandwagon. I am glad in a way I did. They are hyped up alot but still awesome sub for the price and put my 2004's to shame.
