Different brands crossover for speakers?

If there is a Zobel network in the crossover like some higher end crossover have then, no you shouldn't use them with speakers other than they were designed for.

For simple crossovers and speakers to be compatible the freq, slope and impedance must be right. If the freq or slope is off it will not sound right and/or could damage the tweeter. If the impedance is wrong, it will change the freq and the slope resulting in the above.

Differnet brands may use different brand capacitors/resistors/coils/configurations which could give you different sounds.
The only thing that really matters is the "configuration".

The rest is snake oil dribble, perpetuated by idiotic audiophiles with nothing better to spend their money on.
