Different brands crossover for speakers?

Just curious, wonder what it would sound like if u used one brands crossover on another brands speakers? lol, i dont think it would damage it, but sound like shit eh?

not at all, so long as the speakers you are using work well with the crossover points/slopes.

If there is a Zobel network in the crossover like some higher end crossover have then, no you shouldn't use them with speakers other than they were designed for.

For simple crossovers and speakers to be compatible the freq, slope and impedance must be right. If the freq or slope is off it will not sound right and/or could damage the tweeter. If the impedance is wrong, it will change the freq and the slope resulting in the above.

Differnet brands may use different brand capacitors/resistors/coils/configurations which could give you different sounds.

Instead of getting into a shouting match, as helo was really the only one with any useful information, take a look at this tutorial. It models up different crossovers, with different drivers, and shows how they are not compatible.

I'm not saying you can't get decent sound, but the odds are not in your favor, and it's a real crap shoot.
