Did I make a good decision in buying a Rockford Fosgate Prime series amp? (R1200-D to be exact). They were highly recommended by the local audio shop and small footprint power draw wise and size wise. I bought this about 2 days before I joined the forum, where I have since caught on that Rockford's Prime and Punch series are kind of meh nowadays.

So far it's done fantastic and puts out good clean power. But will it not last as long? Why exactly do you guys tend to stay away from them now? Will it run well and cool at 1 Ohm which I plan on running once I get my SA-12s? It seems to have a great aluminum heat sink, but I haven't looked at its guts yet to see what they look like.

Opinions?

still a decent brand, problem is your almost paying double what you should be paying if it didn't say Rockford on it. (paying for the name/warrenty/repairs ect) a lot of the time you can get a lesser known brand that'll do the exact same pwr and be a better built amp.

They are meh...its enough power for 1 sa ..what about the other one lol

I have it now though and I feel like it might be difficult to get good money if I sold it.

And it should do two SA12s. I know they can handle a hell ofa lot more but it'll still drive two of them and sound real good.

Yeah i wouldn't try to get the money back right now. Build a bigger box and tune a little higher, that should help output.

Well the SAs are a long term invesment meaning ill have them for a while with plenty of room to upgrade to a bigger amp down the line. But if I can get a 1500 to 1700 ish amp I feel like that would be ideal at the moment.

My priorities right now are the big 3 aad I guess trying to sell and get a bigger/better amp.

Yes, it was designed with the help of Steve at Amp Medics. They are great amps, I have many friends that run them.
