diameter vs depth

ok lets use our imaginations plz! ok... lets say you have 2 speakers...a 6.5" and a 5.25" both with the exact same specs, but are also both 2.25" deep. which will sound better?

what im getting at is the guy at my local sound shop said that i would be better off getting a deep 5.25" rather than a shallow 6.5" for fronts...im asuming thats relative to the diameter...

well my question was actually meant for all the same conditions and specs...the only difference is diameter. anyways i wanted to replace the front speakers in my WRX and was thinking mb quart rsc213 or rsc216. i know its not the same specs but ive heard some horror stories bout the wrx having very shallow doors and usually doesnt fit 6.5" speakers coz they are too deep. the guy at my local car audio shop said that id be better off getting 5.25" because a "deep" 5.25" would sound better than a shallow 6.5" im guessing relative to the diameter.

The 6.5 will give you a little more bass response and make the midrange sound a little bit fuller, but other than that I would take either one. If you are looking for more bass up front go with the 6.5, but if you are a SQ head and have 8's up front or something then go with the 5.25's (that what I had).
