Desperately Need Help

I have a 12" MTX and a Sony Amp that I just bought from a friend. I know for a fact that they both work because I just heard them earlier today in his car. I have run all of my wires, power, remote, ground, rca's, and speaker wire. I have a Panasonic 7003U tv in my car. When I turn my car on, the amp turns on perfectly, but the sub has very very weak bass coming from it. I have checked and rechecked all of the wires, but I cannot figure it out. The speaker is barely moving and I hear just a tiny bit of bass....please help...what could be the problem.

you may have to adjust the amp to your head unit whats the gain on you may have to turn it up some

Was the amp bridged when you heard it before?

I turned the gain up quite a bit...this is driving me crazy, I can't figure it out. I've tried turning the gain all the way up but it still didn't help.

gain was my first thought. next what are the subs wired to? you could have wired them to a hire resistance then what your friend had them at and also was the amp bridged like the other guy say and do you just have it not bridged?

My friend didn't have it bridged...so that's what I tried initially...it didn't help...so I bridged it but got the same result...weak bass.

does the sub have dual voice coils?

could the coils be wired out of phase?

J/K, is the sub gain turned up on the head unit?

also make sure the RCA's are both plugged into the same channel.. sometimes if the channels are right next to each other, its easy to put one in the wrong channel
