Definitely A "newbie" A LITTLE HELP WOULD BE NICE :)

What I suggest you do is take a few days and start to read some of the threads, look in the SUBWOOFER thread and read a few of the threads, you will start to see that the letters (FI, TL, BM ...) are either companies that make subs or the line of sub from a particular maker. The brands you see on this fourm are typically not what yu will find in circuit city or best buy. They are usually better brands that don't have large big box store sales. feel free to ask questions in in the threads that you have intrest in, you will get alot of information and understanding.

the Kicker system that you looked at will work fine, but you can do much better with some help from the guys on this fourm and yo will be happier in the end.

doesnt sound like she is looking for WHERE to buy the subs but rather WHAT to buy and WHY....
to answer ur question earlier a good set of 12's in ur truck would be just fine if matched up with the proper amp.... like someone else mentioned if you buy something on here, or where ever its easy on here to resell it if you dont like it....

best advice on the installation is please dont pay a shop to install unless you absolutely have too... being that u are new to the hobby and a girl they almost definitely WILL take advantage of you and charge you way too much.....try to find a friend or something that knows about the hobby to help, or post up something on here saying where ur from and look for someone local to help you out.....being that ur a girl and into car audio someone in georgia will help lol well good luck...
ahh thanks that's what i'm wanting to hear..

yeah i know a few people around here that can help me out.

How much do people usually charge to install subs??

i'm really thinking of buying brand new (just my preference) because i'm pretty sure i'll just stick with the subs until i get a new car. I pretty much just want some nice sounding bass in my car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In the Kicker combo i posted earlier, is there anything ELSE i'll need to buy or does everything pretty much come included in the package..and $399.99 for kickers? doesn't sound bad at all. I have BOSE speakers if that makes a difference..

take the advice from above and do some searching in the subwoofer section.....honestly buying new is a little overrated.......if you talk to alot of these guys on here they sell alot of stuff just weeks after they buy it...why? because something bigger and better is always coming along and like we said its pretty easy to resell on these forums....ive bought my ENTIRE SYSTEM amps, component speakers, subs all used but in almost new condition for more than half what i would of paid retail.....

as far as installation goes, do you have an aftermarket HU? can you take it out yourself? if so running the wires in a large truck like you have shouldnt be too hard.....its easy a couple hundred bucks you could save.......if you have someone build you a box, run ur wires, buy the wires from them you could easily see a 200-500 dollar install bill.....

a good box if you dont know someone that will build you one could cost anywhere from 100-200.......

dont jump into something do some reading....most guys on here know alot more than ur avg circuit city or audio shop installer....

ahh i see.

thanks, i think i'm going to check out the classifieds then haha.

i may still need some help if that's okay?

and to answer your ?? earlier, nope no aftermarket HU, just whatever came with the tahoe..and can i take it out?? HIGHLY doubt it, i'm just an 18 year old girl with no car audio experience.. haha.

but thanks for being patient //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

also what do you mean by nice sounding bass......do you want loud, obnoxious, punch you in the chest bass, or talking like the type of sound you hear from a home theatre where every note is nicely refined and is very musical? thats also a huge difference....

i just dont think that kicker set is going to be powerful enough for you....it looks like it comes with an 8 guage power wire......you tend to want to stick with 4 guage or larger in case you want to upgrade at some point.... how long are these going to stay in this car....you mentioned you wanted to buy a new car....

since it doesnt seem anyone else is helping feel free to pm me and ask some questions.....im really just a hobbyist when it comes to this stuff so alot of the questions you are asking i asked like a year or so ago so i can answer the basics....

youd be shocked with some looking online what you can do....taking a radio out and installing some power wire isnt as hard as it seems..... when i was in high school one of my friends (18 yr old girl herself, and hot i might add lol) installed her entire system, plus installed and painted her body kit herself.....did a **** good job to.....

You could probably get more for 400$ that that Kicker set... Maybe buy a PA amp, they are good "budget" amps, though the Kicker ones are nicer, the PA are cheaper per watt, and aren't totally over rated.

The only thing about going the other route is that you don't seem to interested in building your own box...

One more thing, BB, and CC usually do free installs on HU's that are 100$ and over. I suggest buying a decent one there and it will cost about 40$ to be installed (40$ comes from wiring) It would just get really expensive buying a nicer HU from an online store, then bringing it to a person to get installed, but once one is installed installing other after market decks will be a breeze.

From experience, don't buy shitty brands like, Sony, Dual, Boss, I guess PA subs people seem to really not like them, and other obviously "cheap" brands. Even if it saves you 50$ you will not be happy with it....

millionbuy.com is personally my favorite car audio site.

Good Luck in your search! I am currently on my own search!

BTW: Amp installing is not a difficult task. It may seem intimidating, but once you try it once you would never think about paying someone 80$ to do it for you:)
