Definitely A "newbie" A LITTLE HELP WOULD BE NICE :)

Okay, first off HI, I'm new to these forums. Just came across them while searching for car audio online. I'm completely clueless when it comes to car audio and I'm actually looking for subwoofers for my car. I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe with BOSE speakers..

Just a few questions:

What size subs do you recommend? I hear that if you have an SUV it's better to get either 15" or 18", would 12" be fine?

Also, I sort of have a budget and was wondering if this http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7696_Kicker+Combo-+ZX300.1+Amplifier+%2B+DC122+Comp+Subs+-+Box+%2B+FREE+CK8+Amp+Kit.html would be worth my money? I'm really wanting a lot of bass in my Tahoe without spending an arm and a leg..

THANKS FOR THE HELP!

whats your budget and what kind of music do you listen to?

hmm ..well, no more than $500.

does this sound off? How much does decent sounding subs/box/amp + installation fee usually cost?

and music? EVERYTHINGGGG.

rap/rock/emo/acoustic/country..

haha.

I definately think giving a budget would help. If you listen to what these guys have to say you can get a really nice system off the forsale fourm here. the great thing about this forum is typically you have the ability to pick up great equipment for a very reasonable price, try it and if you want to try somthing else you can sell it here and if you haven't done any damage to it you can usually sell it for basically the same amount that you have into it minus shipping. Unlike buying retail, with the bonus of getting better stuff typically

good luck

Yeah I totally agree... Do some searching around on the forums to get a better idea of what you would like. When you know what you want, check out the for sale section and you will get a great sounding system for the money.

i looked around and am pretty much lost looking at everything.. :-/

is there anything wrong with the kicker combo i posted up earlier??

it's $399.99..

am i missing something or does this sound extremely cheap?

I'll sell you (2) SI BM 12's and a MMATS 800.1 monoblock amp for $550 shipped that will pound that kicker combo out of the water. The setup did a 140.1db windshield reading on a TL.

doesnt sound like she is looking for WHERE to buy the subs but rather WHAT to buy and WHY....

to answer ur question earlier a good set of 12's in ur truck would be just fine if matched up with the proper amp.... like someone else mentioned if you buy something on here, or where ever its easy on here to resell it if you dont like it....

best advice on the installation is please dont pay a shop to install unless you absolutely have too... being that u are new to the hobby and a girl they almost definitely WILL take advantage of you and charge you way too much.....try to find a friend or something that knows about the hobby to help, or post up something on here saying where ur from and look for someone local to help you out.....being that ur a girl and into car audio someone in georgia will help lol well good luck...
