Decent entry level priced rifles?

I know savage makes some nice rifles for fairly cheap. Any reccomendations as far as for the money? Would be mostly used target shooting. And whatever round is fairly common and on the cheaper side.

Have to factor in price for a decent scope, also.

Over here I think it's about a quarter of the price. If you buy in bulk you save a lot too, but we do a lot of shooting and you probably don't if you're just shooting targets.

I have to say that a red rider bb gun is hard to beat for the price lol.. But in reality people say that a .17 is a good target practice gun, way more accurate than say a 22mag, but i love my old remington 243 i shoot it every deer season over my 270 or 7mag, just such a smooth accurate and all around great gun..

Wanted something a little more powerful than a .17.

Remington Model 710

Bolt action 30-06 with clip. Under $400 brand new with a scope, I like Nikon scopes.

Ammo is very cheap (much cheaper than 25-06). 150g has good punch and decent range. Hornaday ballistic tips are good hunting rounds.

.270 short mag is an awesome 500+yd shooter, but rounds are expensive as hell.

.243 is also good.

.223 is a good gun as well. We use them for coyotes, good range.

For fun: a Ruger bull-barrel .22 semi-auto rifle with a 30rnd clip is as good as it gets for targets, IMO I like Ruger.

We have a few rugers .22s, the semi-auto action is pretty stunning, never jams and these rifles have had over 100 000 rounds fired through them each easily.

.22 mag, Remington 770 .243, hi point makes a nice cheap carbine in 9mm, 22-250's are cool. Stay away from AK's for target shooting unless you want your target to look like Swiss cheese. Delton makes .223 AR's for around $700 that are US made which is cheap for an AR
