deadening preperation

once the weather in michigan permits i am planning to deaden my car from back to front. my question is what are the best methods to prepare for deadening, such as cleaning supplies, key temperature outside, etc. i am planning to put most of my effort into the rear hatch area and doors and a little on the floor and firewall. my next question is what is the best, most affordable way to reduce road noise in the rear hatch as well as deaden for vibration?

Temperature really isnt a factor.... I installed my eDead (in indiana) in the middle of october and it's gonna be getting alot warmer so you wont have to worry about that.

I just vacuumed up all the bigger pieces (dirt chunks, left over screws, and whatnot) then just used plain-old rubbing alcohol to prep the surface then dry it with a towel (that has no fuzzies or produce them lol.) eDead is still holding strong even after an indiana winter lol.

thanks for the tips, would you consider e-dead the best deal for the money. and would you have any idea how much i should expect to use in a crx(doors, hatch, pretty much the whole car)

Agreed. I installed mine in the doors a week ago. It snowed a couple of times since then and my edead is still stuck on there. It's really easy and makes a huge difference.

rubbing alcohol, acetone, I've even used gasoline. What you are trying to do is remove any grease or other shit that wouldn't make for a good spot to stick the stuff. I do prefer to apply it when it's warm outside though (unless you have a heat gun). I typically lay the sheets out in the sun to warm em' up. This makes them a little more plyable and with some brands, the heat will make the adhesive really stick.

good luck
