ill make this short.

i was driving the other day and my + wire fell off + battery post and created a short. i thought my full range blew out cus it would only play w/o engine on. w/ engine on amp shuts on/off rapidly.

so i threw in an old amp today. figured this one would work, but it does about the same thing. will car off plays okay, but with car on music goes on/off.

really stuck here guys. any help?

Check power, ground, remote and RCA cables. Most likely a short. Amp on and of rapidly sounds like a remote wire shorting if a known good amp is doing the same.

ill definitely re-check the remote wire and rcas. just a little weird that this started happening ONLY after my positive fell off the post and also that the amp only acts up with engine one but plays normal with keys in the accessory mode

I bet its ur rem or power wire. I'm guessing power tho.

With car off theirs less V being used so ur wire can handle it(even with the short),

amp isn't shutting down Cuz ur wires g is thick enough for the 12-13v...15v with car on

The not working properly while running could be vibration from the engine idling or bumps down the road. In other words it could be something like the main wire fuse being split but visibly fine. as it vibrates it could be making connection than not. Same goes for a hot + remote wire could have a burnt spot and arching off metal as it vibrates touching the metal then back off. Could have screwed up the regulator in the alt, shielding epoxy in solenoid and so on.

this does make sense. hadn't thoughta bout this. it makes sense because my mono amp is working fine. and they are both powered off the same power distribution block as well as share the same remote wire.

also it plays decent at low volumes but once i crank it up it quickly distorts and starts to fade out. also makes sense about having a short on power wire because thats when it would be ******* up more power. thanks for the tip! i will test the amp out with different connections

Check fuses on the headunit and the power wire.
all fuses seem fine. i wish it was something as simple as the fuses. lol

this also would make sense, except like i mentioned above, i have two amps running off the same distribution block and only my full range is failing. the main line fuse is fine and i dont have a fuse on the full range power cable, just have the fuses on the amp itself.

remote wire could be shorted out or burnt, ill try using a new one. but im using the same remote wire from my hu for both amps. so not sure.

thanks for all the help guys. you guys are definitely giving me ideas that i hadnt quite thought about!

alright. you guys were CORRECT.

after some serious checking and troubleshooting, it turns out that the problem is coming from the remote wire.

i assumed the remote wire worked because, everything powers up and works fine (except for full range)

anyways. turns out my hu isnt putting out a good signal through remote wire. i think i hvave warranty on it, so hopefully i get a new one to me soon.
