drool, i don't care anything about playing under 50. i would be playing them around 63hz. sure would be sweet on my pr 40.1s. but for 2500.00 i think i better stick w/ my death penaltys.

They have no realistic limit to the amount of power they can handle. Ive seen videos of someone actually sitting on a DDZ18 and plugging it in to a wall socket and they get launched off, unfortunatly i cant find that video anymore.

DD lists their rms @ 15000, but people run 30K easy to these beasts.

30krms to one sub is pointless. Period. You can sit here and ***** all day, but after so much power, your not gonna gain anything. Ever think why Dante only used 2 amps last years instead of 4? lol.

But the enclosure has alot to do with the power handling of those subs. I've heard a few blow with 15krms on it. (I woulda assume power.), caused by a miss designed bandpass wall.

These subs are not the greatest thing car audio has seen. And its not like its some near rocket science either. Alot of companies don't build a sub to compete with this one because its pointless. The 20(maybe more) people that sub 99z a year doesn't seem very profitable to me.

the sub does not just handle mass amounts of power but they are ext. eff. that is why alan dante only needs 2 amps to do over 180db. that is what you are paying for the total package.

lol. no.

They just didn't gain with anymore power. Basically they ran out. To much heat, pressure ect.

I mean some run 4 z2s on em no problem.

But theres other subs that will take the same power.

Power handling and SPL doesn't go hand in hand.

lol. and how long have you been competing.

Put any sub in that car and it will do very close to the same number.

30 dollar trip to a hardware store and you could easily put a hurting on that woofer with practically any sub that can hold up to the pressure that it builds, and no i'm not telling you how. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

It's not god..it's still a conventional woofer...just with a very strong motor.

It doesn't move a vast amount more then a regular 99xx or 95xx series does, as it is either limited by the basket, or the surround. But beings that people pay huge amounts of money for it they swear they sound amazing..even though taking parameters into consideration it will sound horrid on music due to the VERY low qts, and High Fs...it'l probably do kick drums and transients very well though. It is one of the first/only strictly SPL woofers...what buyers make it out to be is their own doings.

See, it's kind of like buying a Tiffany & Company ring and giving it to your girlfriend/significant other. They see the little blue box and immediately think that I spent a ton of money at Tiffany's on them...What they don't know is the ring inside that little blue box was a 39 dollar one from QVC. They think its a Tiffany ring, they don't know any better, and they love you for spending all of that money on that ring for them. It's called ambiance; a lot of psychology and sociology goes into the marketing behind creating it for a brand name or given brand. But at the end of the day it's nothing like it 'appears' to be. The buyer has to gratify that he/she just spent a ton of money on something that at the end of the day really is not worth it..so naturally they are going to perceive it as god. Because the company said it was, and made appear to be so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

Ah..Marketing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
