Kinda urgent...

I have searched and read through probably 15-20 pages on these things and it seems to be almost a dead even split. This would be in an almost daily driver and I would set the gains to around 2500 and it will be run at 1ohm via a Fully Loaded 18" BTL (D2). I will be turning up the gains for comps but I only do 2-3 a year. Now I hear they get warm and my thoughts on that are as fallows. I love the guts anyways so I want to make a plexi back plate for it and mount it so you can see the guts. I have a pretty dang powerful 12v fan I will mount on it as well as put some vents in the plexi.

Electrical:

300a Ohio Generator Alternator

Big3 done is 2/0

single run of 1/0 (actually the same amount of copper as 2/0 but it was sold as 1/0 so...)

2) C&D UPS12-350MR's (93ah or so...)

as for the plexi/fan... should I blow air in or **** air out? and should I have the fan on one far side and vents on the other or fan in the middle and vents on both sides?

Do a 2 fan set-up, one blowing and one ******* //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Its more fun that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

what exactly are you asking here?
will it be OK in a daily setup running at 1ohm gains at about 2500... I hear they get pretty dang hot, would the fan thing be a good idea?

I am between this and a Diablo Hellfire 2500.1, price difference is only $175~ and the Z1 seems to be much more powerful but if it isn't a decent daily amp I don't know if I should mess with it.

I read a thread about using a fan in the dd amps he used 1 fan blowing straight down on whatever part of the internals that gets hottest he used a temp gun to get results, he ran it for a few hours without fan and then the same 2 hours with the fan ....end result was the temp dropped by quite a bit using the fan i think it may have been about 20 degrees so I would definatley use the fan if i were you ....just make sure its vented well to push the hot air out....Im actually going to do this on my ss 15k ..plexiglass bottom plate, clear plastic led fan, clear glue, will make for quite a nice look lol, you can get some nice fans on ebay for cheap something like this Masscool BLD-14025S1L BLUE LED Fan Sleeve bearing 140mm - eBay (item 200413564182 end time Mar-02-10 22:35:36 PST) or you could use a 180mm one also

As for the amp I personaly have not used one but your setup sounds like it should be sufficient but one thing you should deffinatley do is get a good digital volt meter and hook it up where you power wires go into your amp mount it on the dash where you can see what its doing at all times...if the voltage drops below mid 12,s at any time then add another batt (which i have some lol) and try it then if voltage still drops add 1 more...If i were you I would try to run one of the c&d,s you have under the hood as your main batt and a few larger ones in the rear....That amp should do ok as long as you keep the voltage up

way to be a day late and a dollar short bud! LOL, I have heard both negatives and positives... we'll see I guess...
Sorry, don't cruise this forum for more than a few minutes at a time.

I say you'll be fine. You're not using it to its full potential so it shouldn't over-heat too bad.

I may not always be the best at car audio, but I do know a thing or two about cooling via using fans like those (I only built my desktop and learned how to on my own ;] ). If your gonna run fans do like Worstenemy said and do at least one ******* in cold air and one blowing out hot air. You could run one fan in and out but since the amp is fairly wide you'd see a nice cooling solution having two fans ******* in across one side and two fans blowing out on the other side. Its like a windtunnel effect, and since your running fans all the way across it your ensuring that all internals are being cooled. If you decide to fan it be sure to take pictures I wana see what your design ended up looking like. I need to figure out an amp to run my BTL too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
