DD vs. RE which could be better

I was wondering that if i was to put any RE up against any dd audio sub which would be louder/hit harder. The reason why Im asking this is because i hear much about both companies, and was wondering which is better. Would RE's MT hold up against DD's 9500? or what about a Sx and a dd sub that would match up against it.

Depends.....louder on the mic in SPL only? The loudest to the ear over the whole bandwidth? Loudest daily driver on the mic?

But regardless, basically your question has no answer. They are both great products that are very capable of hitting hard/getting loud (both to the ear and the mic) when utilized properly. That's pretty much all there is to it. The rest of it (which one is "better") is totally install/setup/box related and can go either way depending on the circumstances.

MTs will smoke the 9500 series. 9900series it would be a close race. SXs vs 9500series be a close race.... just depends on what power what box and what not.

MTs > 9500series

MTs = 9900series depends

SX = 9500series depends

SX

If its all out spl those are what it would look like. IF its SQL XXX over all.

No your gettin it all wrong, which would YOU prefer. Im sure u like 1 better than the other. Right?

My bad on the 9500, I thought that was dd's best sub. My bad

if it were to be given to me?

A pair of 9917's. Sell them for $2k. Buy a couple of 9515's for the wall, and a couple of XXX12's for daily. Have money left //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Alas, the world is not perfect.

I would pickup XXX's or 35 series for daily.

For competition... DD's by all means. MT's had a great showing at finals... but the number of popped cones concerns me a bit.

The MT has more displacement then any DD driver, so it should still take them daily. The XXX will spank any DD driver in displacement as well.

I'd personally take an RE woofer over a DD...DD's CS sucks ***...and Dave always puts up with my badgering of him online //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I would take he dd because I love their woofers. I think Nate Munson hit 160 something with 1 9510.

He did a 169.x with 1 9510. Also did a VERY close number with a single W7....

Let me explain why DD's CS sucks ***.

My friend owns a shop. He's had a pair of 3515's sitting on the floor for months. About 6 months back, he had to send them in for recones. First off, they don't warranty crap. Not a **** thing. Jassa called his shop and told him to stop telling customers they will be warrantied, because they aren't. Well, he sent in those 3515's, and it took them over a month to send them back, and then they CHARGED him for a new box to ship them in, because the one he sent them in wasn't 'adequate' (he sent them in the original packaging, btw). He's still a DD dealer, but doesn't push the product at all.

have to agree... their CS is amongst the worst I've come across.

I do however support their product for competition because of motor structure & past experience. I haven't seen another woofer take upwards of 10kw @ tuning for close to 30 seconds, and live happily ever after.

I'm not knocking the MT, I couldn't... I've yet to try one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

By SBN i may be running a pair.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

well that's because the DD didn't see 10kw at tuning...imp. rise at tuning is through the roof in most cases....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I can absolutly promise it...

The impedance in box was mapped, the box was not huge therefore in box rise is not as huge as you'd assume, the shop that put this together was loudest dbdrag in '00 or '01 for NYState, still holds the record i believe...

8 modded D3's strapped to a quad 9917 with a 16 or 17vdc supply.

IIRC the output was calc'd at a little under 12kw. But it has been awhile.

I have never had a problem with DD's Customer Service.

I like the fact that you actually have human contact with them after you order whatever. (they call to get your information)

Obviously I would choose the DD, but we dont need to get into that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thats a bonus yes, but when i've called RE i didnt really have a problem getting a person on the phone. maybe 1 in 4 times i had a problem getting through.

Even with emails, when I sent in valid questions (not: "how much is this", "what will i hit if i do this") i had no prob getting responses that day or the next.

I ordered a driver from Kim @ DD 5 weeks ago...

It took 3 weeks IN shop to get a recone earlier this year....

And, warranty of course //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blow_up.gif.f2a780e8b12ae09e264cb01720b8dca2.gif

But the drivers are sturdy.

I like RE's other products I've used... and their CS is faaar better in my expeience. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

I have had no problems with DD CS at all. In fact today I called with a question, but the tech guy was busy so they took my number and called me back 15 minutes later. But I hope if what you are saying about warraty is true that I never have to deal with it
