im looking at the DD 2500 12" and was curious how it would do in a ported box tuned to 28hz.I know this tends to go against all dd says, but for what its worth, the 2500 12" has a fs of 28 hz so I wondered if it would do well on the lower notes. any input is appreciated

fs is not the only factor in determining whether a sub likes low tuning.

Go with what the manufacturer likes...they would know

i have a dd 2510 in my truck that is tuned at 40hz and is has no problems playing an octave or so lower. tuning lower will take some of the "peak" out and offer a flatter responce. i also have a 1508 that started out in a box at 32hz and it sounded nice but not as loud at it dose tuned at 40hz. even tuned at 40 hz it would still get the lower tones good.

It's all a matter of preference. I had my DD's tuned to 40, and ya it did get loud and low but not low enough. I re-tuned it to 35, and it's just the way I like it. Now with my 2510, I'll be tuning them to 34 in the silverado. I would say that anything lower than 34 is way to lower for a DD. it's a loud sub, not a low end monster. Again, my opinion.
