DD 9518g vs. 18" BTL fully loaded

Agreed, by doing well I meant not breaking -- I did not mean sounding good by any means //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The 9500 isn't a godawful sounding woofer... but I wouldn't call it an SQ woofer by any stretch of the imagination. The BTL sounds a hair better than the 9500 to me, but again, is still not a great sounding sub either.
This is weird, we totally agree here, and we have the same last name. Spooky.

these both are very good subs. there are gonna be people in here that have gotten both subs loud. some people will say dd and some btl. numbers dont mean much because its more install at this point. you would be more safe with dd just because they have a better reputation. over the summer i actually saw no btl's at any competitions. also, gmonk you might want to talk to about his experience with btl's. he had 4 18'' btls in his car before he ripped them apart

i looked at the member list and couldnt find his name. i want to order these tonight and still cant make up my mind
His name is Galacticmonkey and he mainly posts on ROE.

He was running two SAZ-1500Ds per BTL @ 1/2 ohm per amp.

I've had customers tear up 9500s with the same configuration, so it's not just BTLs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

^^thats what i was thinking running the amp at 1/2 ohm at each coil isnt always th best. ha. man toughest decision of my life.

Doing 'well' daily is a subjective notion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif To me, these types of subs are seen as doing well because they dont fall completely on their face while performing outside their designed intentions. Ive heard 9500 and MT setups that sounded ... okay. Ive yet to hear one that sounded outstanding. Usually rather peaky response, even in their 'daily' box. But oh yes, the owners of those systems were all to ready to explain how many thousands of watts their system would soak up.
*shrug* Just seems like a bragging rights thing to me. Plenty of SQL subs out there that would work much better in a daily system, listening to music, than would these things. If he was planning on comp'ing much more than the 'occasional' one I could see it more. But to me just looks liek someone trying to squeeze a sub into a role it wasn't designed for. Pick a sub that was designed for this role.

Bah why do I try. Next month the OP will be on here telling us what great SQ his BTL or 9500 setup has, and a whole new flock of people will run out to do the same thing. To each their own I guess.
nick has said the BTL was not designed as a pure spl driver. he said it was designed at a daily woofer that you can beat on, especially once you start adding the options to it. to me it seems like this driver would fit the role just fine.
