I am looking into making my first ported/slot box. I dont know how to do the calcs or anything really well. It is a 15 sx I am just wondering if someone is nice enough to help me get a good tuning for a daily in a suv. With around 800-1000 to it. I listen to alot of music. I just threw it in a sealed box tonight and I hate it lol. But I know its the box its about 1cub when all said and done. I just wanted to test it and make sure it works. Its got 600 to it. And on some little john I was impressed it skipped the heck out of the cd. But I dont just listen to rap I listen to alternative as well. That is why I have always liked 12's in a sealed box. But hoping one of you pros like to listen to music like me in all diffrent areas, that knows what the box should be tuned to to get a nice over all sound. I want it loud but to sound good.

Send a PM to mrray13 ( Kent)

He should be able to help you out.

You might even want to invest in some plans to make it even eaiser for you

I believe he does them for $10, dont quote me on that though

Ok dude I work at a shop and i'm willing to help because i'm freack'en nice

First you can make the box 4ft^3 after port and driver displacment

make the port 40in^2 and 19.1in long. that tunes you to 33hz

if you want a full set of plans PM me and i'll come up with some goodies for ya

I would tune lower, probably...around 27-28Hz. Position the sub as close to the rear doors as you can get it, and fire away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Works well for the van...

Fire in the HOLE!!!!

Give that SX ~2.5 cubes and tune it to 32 Hz (my favorite tuning btw) with around 24"^2 of port area and it should give you the output you are looking for while still maintaining decent SQ.

so what do you hate about the SX... when i say i hatemy XXX people think its some sort of freak occurance...

i imagine youre setup is lacking the same way mine is...

Well I am going to believe the box is way off, and the power is too low to really judge it. But it just was not hitting really any thing but really low sounds. So that kinda sucks, but I am not going to really judge it until I get the right box and power to it. But construction, this thing is SOLID. It is heavy, I really like the looks of it so I cant wait to really get it set up well.
