Hey guys my dad want to put a sound system in his 93 chevy extra cab pick up. He uses this truck as a 2nd car to tow the boat or hall stuff when nead be. He is not looking for anything crazy, just some decent sq and a little bass. He is looking to spend around $1200. Basically what he wants is a H/U that is i will display his ipod on the screen and sirius sat radio. He likes to order stuff online if that helps any.

so we need to find him

4x6 speakers 4x

4 channel amp

wiring kit

H/U

maybe a powered sub

He did some looking on crutchfield and came up with this

Alpine cda9985 $250

Bazooka BTA10100 (i know i know) $249

Infinity kappa 462.7 cfp 4x6 plate speakers $129

Kenwood excelon KFC-X460 2 way $99

Streetwires PSK08B1 8 gauge Amp kit $69

also i guess there are kick panels that will accept a 5.25 inch speaker with a tweeter

thanks guys

just dont buy from crutchfield you can find better prices elsewhere
You pay a bit more, but they throw in instructions and a harness as well as bomb ass customer service.

--The deck is a good choice

--I would think of getting a pre fabricated box from ebay or something, their usually pretty easy to find and use a low end mtx or JL speaker. You can use the bazooka, I just think the mtx or jl would sound better with the limited space and their shallow mounting depth. I've heard both in the same type of application that you're putting them in and they both sounded better than I would have expected.

--The kenwood 4x6's would be a good choice for up in the dash.

--The infinity 4x6's will NOT fit in the dashboard, I've tryed, the way they design them, the mounting depth is too big for where they fit in. And you wont be able to replace the ones in the back, the entire xtra cab area is al one big panel and when you pull it off 99.9% of the time it breaks, not fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

--The street wires kit is a good choice, easy, cheap and it works.

--I would definitely recommend getting the kick panels and for speakers you have all different kinds of choices, you could just stick with kenwood to match your 4x6's, but you could try anything really...

HU - Good, like the choice a lot actually.

Wiring Kit - Once again, yer good there so far.

Amp - http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KICKER-ZX700-5-5-CHANNEL-AMP-760-WATTS-CLASS-D_W0QQitemZ190200142318QQihZ009QQcategoryZ39739QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Kicker 700.5, couldnt find any online retailer for less thana round 260ish, but you get the point

4x6 Coaxials - http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOENIX-GOLD-RSD-RSD460-4-x6-SPEAKER-SET-NEW-PAIR-4x6_W0QQitemZ260212436206QQihZ016QQcategoryZ14939QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Ol RSD's

6.5" Kicks - http://cgi.ebay.com/Q-LOGIC-Q-FORM-CUSTOM-KICK-PANEL-SPEAKER-PODS-ALL-CARS_W0QQitemZ310018015198QQihZ021QQcategoryZ32819QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem standard ol q logic kicks

6.5" Comps - http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOENIX-GOLD-6-240w-COMPONENT-CAR-SPEAKERS-RSD6CS_W0QQitemZ300198822645QQihZ020QQcategoryZ32819QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Good ol RSD's

Me = fail on box, cannot find a prefab to go under your seat, ****it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif so I guess I'm no good. Just giving you more ideas on which ways to go.

For speakers I suggest Pheonix Gold RSD's or Pioneer REV's, both are great little sets and cheap.

I like the 5 chann Kicker, not too overly expensive and great performance.

all of these are great suggestions! Would it be worth putting comps in the kicks to avoid the rear 4x6's all together?

I think it would probably sound better.

It does, I owned an 89 chevy ext. cab (same thing) and it sounded pretty good, you could always keep the back speakers plugged into the deck, since you should be running at least the speakers in the kick panels off an amp. Unless your 4x6's in the back are blown...

yes the 4x6's are blown.. in fact, the whole system doesn't work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If the truck has upholstered door panels (OEM) instead of the all plastic door panels, I would recommend going with a 6.5" comp or coax in the door. It is a precision fit, but can be done. IMO, 4x6s in the dash are just too harsh. I think Q Logic makes a decent pre made enclosure for that truck as well. Pre made Kicks are good as well, I would recommend fiber glassin' the rear of the [plastic] panels for rigidy.
