D Class amp bad for subs ?

THD under 1% is indistinguishable to even the most sensititive ears ...
where did i say you all dont knwo what u all r talkin about ?

didnt u see me ask a QUESTION ???

did i SAY D class amps are bad for sub ?

or did i ask ??

a sub might distinguish 1% THD....especially if u into SQ systems

I think Pioneer is right to a point, over time a class D amp probably does have a better chance of killing your subs. However, the low cost, low power consumption, and high power of a class D amp as compared to a high power A/B probably make class D still a better alternative.

And to the person who said power blows speakers, not distortion, you have it backwards. :p

1000x says

PG QX 900.1D says 1% THD

distortion kills subs...if not...when you set your gain...let the subs distort and dont bother to turn it down (for person who said distortion doesnt kill subs)

dude i am asking about in the long run....would D class amps hurt your subs ?

would it be better to have a class AB on your subs ??

i am not speaking about having them to play for one competition...i am talking about everyday playing

and sound quality and fidelity

Hmm, I guess if I take my piece of crap Jensen amp I have lying in my room that puts out 20 watts x 4 and bridge it to my Kicker that's rated at 300 RMS and turn the gain all the way up on the amp and the volume all the way up on my head unit, do you think my sub is going to blow even though it would probably be receiving over 50% distortion ?

HELL ****ING NO !!
sure your amp wont like it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

man chill out...i merely asked a question...i am not imposing my opinion on anyone

Over the long run, it does not depend on distortion, it depends on power, enclosure, environment (moisture, sunlight, etc.), and treatment as to how long your subs will last ...
exactly my point....i dont want my subs to last one night in one show

i want clean power...i want clean music...i want music...not noise in my trunk !

i would want an amp that plays clean power....if it costs me a leg n an arm...then so be it...i will wait and invest in something good...dont ya think ?

y spend alot of money on distortion ?

I think a class a/b does sound better on a sub , Atleast I can tell a difference in the 2 ! Not so much with my revo buit all the other class d amps i used didnt sound all that great !
