Well, so far so good. We got this case, which is really nice:

Very nice case, solid built, motherboard tray, & it looks good.

Decided on this video card:

The card is quiet, solid, & runs cool. Plus it can run a lot of games at the minimum res without too much of a problem should he decide to toy around with some.

Got the NEC 3550A DVD burner, a legend in it's own time.

Anyone who has looked at computer hardware in the past couple of years knows all about this motherboard. It is the cream of the crop & should provide a solid backbone to this system for years to come.

Add the hard drive & Opteron 144 and you have the making of one screaming fast machine built upon a solid backbone that delivers everything you need to bring out that speed & then some.

I will start posting pics once NewEgg gets the gear to my house

Im feeling the nforce MB.

Video card is basic but thas all he needs.

Case isnt my thing... to many people use it.

But not bad so far.

OMG do the sli hack for him on that mothermoard, i think you kno the one im talking about, when you take the nvida chip and soilder(sp) the two things.

I would but he doesn't need SLi unless he starts heavily gaming on that PC, plus I don't have a soldering iron. If he does, someone could do it for him locally down the road. I picked the board for that reason though, best performance & upgradability without paying an arm & a leg.

I have that same case...like it.

Only gripe I have is the lights on the front gauges don't work. Never put all that much effort into getting them to work though...but all I know is they don't work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

this is the case i used in my recent build. its pretty nice, very big inside, plenty of room. has a couple leds, but doesn't go crazy. lights my room up perfectly at night. chit looks like something out of star trek lol.
