Please read post #19 above which explains RMS and peak power and why we do what we do with the less expensive amps.
This is not new, it's not unusual and it's fairly obvious how to choose an amp that is right for your budget and power requirements.
Subwoofers are also rated at RMS and peak power points.
Peak power is an actual real number an amplifier can acheive for a short period of time.
It is not the continual or daily use power point.
Yes, Hifonics is higher end product and of course costs more.
