crossover slopes

only reason i could think is that with some subs you want a particular slope that fits the speaker frequency response (at that given crossover tuning) at a particular slope....such as setting a 12dB low pass at 60Hz so that with the system cranked up, a little bit of the range above 60Hz still comes through enouogh to help the sub compliment the midbass of the mids/highs speakers with the small bit that comes through.......

that and some people are willign to pay extra for the extra little bit of control on thier amp..more bottons to play with....i dunno........
