crossover question

Don't use Audiocontrol crossovers if at all possible. They are not very user friendly. Rather than using a potentiometer to set the xover frequency, they use resistor packs. Only way to change xovers frequencies is to either buy or build new resistor packs. Which means if you are not sure of the exact xover frequency that is needed (and you won't until you get the equipment in and find out what works best in your setup), you will be building and/or buying a lot of resistor packs, and spending a lot of time switching them in and out while trying to tune the system.

Are you needing your crossover solely to highpass the horns, or do you need it to both highpass the horns and bandpass the tweeters? Also, what's your budget?

just need them to highpass the horns basically, my budget is around 150-200 but cheaper would be pretty good
How are you planning on crossing over the mids?

The Audiocontrol DQX might work for you. EQ & Xover all in one package. Main thing I don't like about it is that you can't overlap or underlap crossover points. Also, I don't know off hand....but you would want to make sure it will allow you to obtain the xover frequencies you need.

i'm a fan of resistor packs. people don't randomly turn the resistor pack.

LOL.....true.

But then again I'm overprotective enough that I don't let other people get close enough to my equipment that they could possibly adjust the settings //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

if you dont have an HU, why don't you need just get an HU that has all the processing in it, rather have to worry about where to install the eq/xover and also which eq/xover to buy? much more convenient imo if its at the touch of your hands.
