I used a pair of vice grips recently and it worked beatifully. If you have some decent strength then it crimps perfect, that wire is never gettin out. And it looks clean.

i use a bench vise too. one flap at a time so they fold over on each other.

i would almost rely on crimping with my fingers before any solder only connection, especially for 0g wire. solder does not provide much (if any) strength and is very brittle. the hammer crimper provides the best possible result out of all the methods mentioned in this thread.
