Couple of noob questions bout my L7's and my MTX

Ok, here is the situation.

96 Pathfinder stock alternator

1/0 guage wire

MTX 81000D amp

1 farad cap

Two 15" Kicker L7's dual 4 ohm wired down to 1 ohm

Sealed 3cu/ft box

I have had some decently loud systems before, not pro by any means though. Loudest I have hit was 145db. The setup above I have now is louder than anything I have ever had in the past including the 145db, I'm guessing it is about 150db. I have never had an amp "clip" on me before until the other night. I hit about a long 45 cycle note for about 3 seconds. I carried the whole note, but when the next one came around it was just my mids and highs. I turned it down and the subs came back on. Is this clipping of the amp?

First off, I know the amp is not supposed to be wired down to 1 ohm, but it is...

Here is my next line up upgrades but I have some questions about it.

200amp alternator JUST FOR THE STEREO with its own battery (alt is already on its way). I am leaving the OEM alternator to run all the OEM electronics. The 200 amp alt will be just for the system. I am going to run 0 guage from the alt to the battery, From the alt case to ground, from battery to amp from amp to ground.

Here are my questions,

I was going to run a Batcap in place of a regular battery for the system. Is this a bad idea and if so why?

I have read about the batcaps and the batcap 300 & 400 are more expensive than the batcap 800. Why? Is there something bad about the batcap 800?

Will any of this solve the clipping problem from the amp or am I just screwed on that?

Will the DB gain be only slightly noticeable with these upgrades or should I expect a vast improvement?

Thanks for your help guys, and sorry it is so long.

take the cap off...the amp went into protect then came out of it...usually when this happens your amp is getting too hot...what meter did you use to get 145? audio control?

do you have a digital multi meter aka dmm?

I don't know the meter that was used for the 145. It was just when my friends and I used to screw around with DB drags and stuff. I guess whatever the DB drag guys use??? I dunno man sorry. It was like 145.3 db.

I do have a digital multi meter, what should I do with it (besides shove it up my *** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif )

I am confused about the amp getting too hot, because the amp was not running before that. It was turned on, turned up, played for about 8 seconds (but cut after 3 seconds of bass). Could it have actually gotten too hot inside of only that one note that it played?

you amp is clipping then...look at the first link first...when you are done i highly suggest that you look at the second link...if you become confused before you get the settings done look at the last 3
