Could this be acting as a bandpass?

Just wondering cuz my car seems pretty **** loud for what it is...and being in a trunk firing back...also because I just noticed the other day I get a hell of a lot of airflow at that lip of the rear deck, as well as obviously through the holes in the rear deck (but not as much).

I also just noticed it really is a relatively consistant port, if that acts like a port. Its not exactly the same area all the way through, but I'd guess it varies between about 150-200 sq inches along the way, generally pretty close to 200+ (which would be huge I know) for the majority of it, and its about 25-30 inches long if I'd have to guess

Idk much about bandpasses but just wonderin if I could be getting an effect out of this, and hoping if I know exactly what I'm gettin out of it currently I can help boost that effect

btw the sides where I sprayed black paint in the pic is filled with pillows/foam thing that stops the enclosures from having any chance at moving/restricts airflow pretty significantly so they are kind of like walls

just lookin for opinions

oh and if you couldn't figure it out the first pic is side view, second pic is top view

i dont really know what to call it but no its not a bandpass... a bandpass is like a ported and sealed box in one...the back side of the sub box is ported and the front is sealed...pics in a few

Theres more than just one type of bandpass...both chambers can be ported //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

He's asking if the shape of the trunk could essentially be having a bandpass effect on his subs.

I really don't know, though. I would guess that it's large enough so that it has little to no "bandpass" effect.

Well the reason its even brought to my attention is because its small enough that it is affecting airflow at least somewhat, and like I said I get a significant increase in air speed at that "port" opening

Yes, every car has a type of bandpass effect and every car becomes a part of a larger speaker cabinet. The idea of moving the sub around to find the "sweet" spot is basically tuning adjustment for car. "Tunning" the position of a speaker cabinet within a speaker cabinet.

Subs always have an interaction with the cars interior shape, size and construction. The only way to avoid this is to hang the sub 100 feet in the air by a string. Otherwise there is always a ground plane effect, and in a car thier is a cabin effect. Between reflections, harmonics, phase coupling, cacelllations and other distortions the change can be moderate to severe.
