Could someone please verify my setup?

Ok I'm pretty good at electronics, but this is my first amp/subwoofer install. I thought I had things under wraps, but as soon as I looked in the users manuals I got confused because they're each for like 10 different models that are similar.

Here's what I've got:

1) Punch P3002 - 300 Watt 2-Channel Amp

75x2 @ 4 ohms, 150x2 @ 2 ohms, 300x1 @ 4 ohms

2) P312D4 - 12" Punch Stage-3 (2x4 ohm) Subwoofer

At first I thought each VC was 2 ohm, and I hooked them up in series and to the bridged 300x1 @ 4 ohm on the amp. But after confirming that they're each 4 ohm I don't think I have things hooked up right. Is this going to hurt anything? I've listened to it for about an hour.

If the amp hasn't thrown itself into protection by now then most likey you haven't hurt anything.

I don't know any specifics on that Fosgate amp never having fooled with one personally so I don't know if it's 2 ohm stable bridged mono. My guess would be that it's not.

Do you have one or two DVC 4 ohm subs?

If a single sub then you would likely need to wire the coils in parallel if the amp is to be bridged. The unfortunate side affect to that is only giving the sub 150 watts.

If you keep the amp in 2 channel stereo mode and drive each coil of the sub off of a separate amp channel then you not only have the royal pain in the arse of getting each amp channel set to mirror-image one another output wise (very difficult to do as I understand it) Still only giving the sub 150 watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If you've got two DVC 4 Ohm subs then you can wire them together to show a nominal final load of 4 Ohms to the amp and run it bridged but again - you're only feeding each sub 150 watts.

For that amp/sub combo you really need a DVC 2 Ohm if you're going to run a DVC driver at all to be able to get the most out of that amp.

Yes, I only have one sub.

So basically I got a bad combo. A friend of mine was quitting Best Buy and he picked these out for me and got them on his discount before he quit. I guess in a way he kinda screwed me although they were both over 50% off the regular price.

Ok, what about this. Since the amp puts out 300w RMS @ 4 ohm, each of the subs VC's are 4 ohm, and the sub is rated for 250w RMS per VC... what if I buy a 2nd amp and run each in mono to each VC? Of course I'll just have to be careful I don't overload the subs. If I do this would I just use the RCA outputs on one amp to go to the inputs on the 2nd one?

the gain matching problem comes into play. if each amp dosent put the same amount of power into each voice coil you can blow the sub. this is even if you have 2 identical amps. they will vary in their power output slightly.

didnt he wire the subs up correctly, dual 4 ohm sub, wire them series to get the 4 ohm load bridging the amp. am i missing something.

The amp does have a "protect" LED which is supposed to light and shut down the amp if the impedance detected at the speakers is too low.

So is it okay like Looney Tune says, or is something wrong? Roughly 2 more hours of play and still no problems.
