Please explain how you math is not logic and reasoning...you cant add 2 and 2 and get 5...its not logical.

Do you really think they failed on problems such as that? no... I GUARANTEE they failed on division and multiplication that cant easily be solved mentally. Knowing how to set up long division and multiplication is NOT logic and reasoning, you and me and every other kid had to be taught that.

reading comprehension is what i was mainly refering to in terms of an english test. i think the nail was already hit on the head though when it was mentioned that education should be improved instead of lowering the standards of the test. And i believe that there is a connection between knowing basic math and having basic logic skills. I'm not saying that it is going to come up in day to day duty, but when i think of the people i know that don't understand basic math, i don't think of people that i would want in charge. i'm sure you can understand where i'm coming from there.

EVERY kid in middle school is taught the same rudamentary way to solve those problems...Maybe if they took pride in their education they wouldnt be having problems. Even so, is asking a police officer to have the mathematical capability of a 6th grader really that much to ask? ****...I didnt know the requirment for a cop was as little as pass middle school. No wonder law enforcment sucks...

3 x 3 is easily solved by ADDING 3 groups of 3 objects...3+3+3...and can be worked for any set of numbers...try it. If you can add, you can multiply...Even so, is asking a police officer to have the mathematical capability of a 6th grader really that much to ask? ****...I didnt know the requirment for a cop was as little as pass middle school.
