Its not just the math...a basis in any mathematics is reasoning. If the cop fails math what are his chances he can logically reason? Put that same cop is a tough situation and watch him fail and use poor judgment and get someone killed...

Umm, I'm pretty sure cops go through alot of training, not just a test, if a guys cant reason, he wont pass that training.
And math is not simply logical reasoning.. like I said, I bet half the people here cant do long division.

You correlating not being able to do certain math and not being able to reason in a difficult situation is plain ridiculous...

long division is for ******* lol. try quantum physics then get back to me. math at least for me has always been easy. my high school ran out of classes for me to take by sophomore year b/c i tested out of Trig, Calc and Algebra in 8th and 9th grade.

You can't blame someone for not being smart if they were never told how to be otherwise. This isn't a "blacks are stupid" issue, it is a "where is our education Mr.Bush?" issue.

You're right mike, they really had control over the schools, and Blacks really do get equal oppourtunity. If there was ever a time in your life you ignorant, this would be a shining moment.

Did you read anything prowler said? Do you feel that these particular folks would excell if placed in an upscale school but retained thier same general attitude towards education?

Just so you know, studies show that yes, the richer you are, the higher you test, generally speaking. So yeah, I would say if they were put in an upscale school they would become smarter.

you are the one saying its the presidents fault they dont have money for a better education, im simply saying that if it were a presidents fault it would be the one in power years ago. and the problem with most youth these days is they dont apply themselves, and i hate to say it but alot of black men and women are raised that its ok to take handouts from the government, and these people are the ones that raise hell about something such as people that are unwilling/not capable of doing simple math not getting onto the police force and claim its discrimination

its been my experience that blacks do get equal opportunity if not more opportunity than a white person. afterall, i dont have a united white college fund i can use to go to school, i have to pay for it out of my own pocket.

but then again, we are not talking about higher education, were talking about 4th grade education.

You don't know any studies, you don't know what innercity kids think, and you don't know how the government really works. did i claim i knew everything? i said in my experience. not, its a fact. and you'd be surprised how many blacks live in tulsa, especially the area i live in. and i've known many people that have come from the poorer schools in my area and none of them had it any worse off than anyone else, its a simple matter of applying yourself, i find it hard to believe that people can actually get by in this world today with out being able to do simple math.
