One major thing I ask is that we keep bush or any other politics (besides clearly reasonable aspects) out of this. I want the topic to stay on topic and turn into another Crown Amps thread.

Now i dont know how long division fits into the job but i'm sure it wouldnt be on the test if it wasnt relevant. But as far as simple math I know i would really hate to get a ticket for 30 over the speed limit when doing only 45 in a 35 mph zone!!

I wouldnt be so sure, the democrats have some good education reform ideas, and if they do well these coming elections and we dont have divided gov, I think some good things could get passed. It wont be easy by any stretch...

I dont know the details of what a police officer needs to know to do his or her job, but it doesnt seem absolutely nessecary, I'm sure those black people who failed can use a calculator, so in this situation, I think its OK for them to not know how to do long division. This, of course, wouldt apply for every occupation.

haha, well I'm sure (hopefully) the revised test wont get rid of simple arithmatic. But, again, there is nothing wrong with carrying a calculator on you as a police officer if you really need it.

Again, this is what the reporter said, but it was said that mathematics will be taken out of the test. The joke was made that in a year the english will be taken out, and writing will follow. That is why I remembered it

i personally see this as a cut and dry matter, there is a test, if u pass it your in. if u fail, your not, regardless as to why you dont have as good of an education the police dept shouldnt have to pay for it. i personally dont want a police officer that cant do basic math serving on the police force

The test is NOT different for any race. They are expected to know the same material as any other race that wants to be a cop...wheres the racism? Don't even blame it on the education. They can go to a **** library and check out a book. It doesnt take the IQ of Einstein to know how to do simle arithmatic. The only thing they suffer from is lack of motivation because they feel they're being oppressed at every opportunity. Get over your god **** conspiracy thinking and try to better yourself like every other hard working american. The white man is not behind you with a whip anymore...Not to mention police officers are notorious for being the worst shots ever. If those idiots who can't add are given a gun, we're all ****ed...
